Packing FAQs

What will the weather be like?

The average weather in WA for the month of March is a high of 56° and a low of 37°. The exact forecast will be posted closer to the event date.

What should I pack?

Given the weather forecast (see above) and the unpredictable weather of Pacific Northwest winters, we suggest packing:

  • Multiple layers to adjust to outdoor and indoor temperature changes.
  • A strong umbrella
  • A good raincoat with a hood
  • Waterproof shoes
  • A warm sweater or fleece
  • Multiple pairs of pants
  • Leggings to go under dresses or skirts

A few other items to consider bringing:

  • Cash for buying snacks and swag from vendors (many also take cards).
  • Comfortable clothes for movement break out sessions on Saturday
Is there a dress code for the conference?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, but we suggest dressing in layers since the weather can vary hour to hour in the Pacific Northwest and temperatures might vary from room to room in the hotel.

A small request to show love for those with chemical sensitivities: please avoid wearing perfume, cologne, and essential oils during the conference.

Do I need to dress up for the banquet dinner?

Feel like getting fancy? We welcome that! However, it is certainly not required. Note that there will be dancing, so those that want to show their sweet moves should wear their dance shoes. Make sure to get your ticket to the Friday banquet if you would like to join us!

How much empty room should I leave in my suitcase for samples and swag?

The short answer: as much as possible!

The NTA has a record number of exhibitors this year, and most offer great free samples.

And don’t forget to stop by the NTA booth to check out our swag:

  • NTA Eco Apron: These beautiful aprons are perfect for creating real food in the kitchen, complete with front pockets and the fun pun “Lettuce Turnip the Beet”. Made with organic cotton and recycled polyester. $25.
  • NTA Totes: Made with organic cotton, these totes are ideal for trips to the farmers market or food co-op. There are two options to choose from: Every Day I’m Brusselin’ and Hunting & Gathering. $20.

Quantities are limited, so please stop by the NTA booth early if you’d like to purchase an apron or tote.

How do I get to the conference?

From Portland International Airport

The Hilton Vancouver Washington is located 12 miles from Portland International Airport. It usually takes 15 to 20 minutes by car with average traffic.

  • Rental Car: The daily minimum for most rental car companies is $40.00 USD.
  • Lyft & Uber: Lyft and Uber are both available at Portland International Airport. Learn more about requesting a Lyft here and more about Uber here.
  • Taxi: Expect to pay a minimum of $16.00 USD for a taxi from the airport to the Hilton Vancouver Washington. Cabs operate 24 hours and accept cash and credit or debit cards. Fares begin at $2.50 plus $2.60 per mile. Note that there is a PDX gate fee of $2.50 USD if you are coming from the airport. There are two primary taxi companies in Portland: Radio Cab (call 503-227-1212 or 360-694-1234) and Broadway Cab (call 503-227-1234).
  • Shuttle: Blue Star Shuttle Service picks up outside the baggage claim area. Look for “Washington State Shuttles” sign. Call to make reservations: 800-247-2272.
  • Rail: Amtrak MAX Light Rail provide train service from all major cities throughout the Northwest. To make reservations, contact Amtrak Rail online or call 800-872-7245.
  • Rideshare: You can also inquire about sharing a ride with other conference attendees using the forums on the conference website.

From SeaTac International Airport

The Hilton Vancouver Washington is located 153 miles from SeaTac International Airport. It usually takes 2.5 hours by car with average traffic.

  • Rental Car: The daily minimum for most rental car companies is $40.00 USD.
  • Rail: Amtrak MAX Light Rail provide train service from all major cities throughout the Northwest. To make reservations, contact Amtrak Rail online or call 800-872-7245.
  • Taxi: Expect to pay over $250 USD for a one-way taxi fare from SeaTac International Airport to the Hilton Vancouver Washington.

Park’n Go Vancouvercenter

Paid parking is available at the Park’n Go Vancouver Center Garage, located less than a block from the Hilton Vancouver Washington:

  • Fees: Weekday – $8.50 (flat rate); Weekend – $2.50 (flat rate)

Hilton Vancouver Washington Guests

Attendees staying at the Hilton Vancouver Washington can use the underground gated parking lot. Note that you will need your hotel key card to get in and out. There are elevators between the garage and the hotel lobby. The daily cost of parking is $18 a day.

Do the hotels have refrigerators?

Yes, the Hilton Vancouver Washington has refrigerators in all rooms. Information on overflow hotels and their amenities will be coming soon.

Food & Banquet FAQs

How much time is there for lunch?

The lunch break each day of the conference will vary from 60-90 minutes. Schedule coming soon.

What lunch options are available at or near the conference venue?

Do I need to dress up for the banquet dinners?

Friday’s dinner is red carpet themed, so if you would like to get fancy, feel free! All ticket proceeds are going towards the Jennifer Pecot Scholarship Fund.

There will be dancing on Saturday night, so bring some dancing shoes!

Can I bring a significant other to the banquets?

Friday is a ticketed event, so they will need to purchase a ticket to attend. Go here to purchase.

Saturday is open to registered attendees only.

Is there really a band and dancing?

Yes, we will have a live band and dancing during the banquet dinner on Saturday, March 3.

How can I get the conference videos?

Video recordings of all the 2018 NTA Annual Conference keynotes and breakout sessions will be available for digital download after the conference. We will have a promo going on during the conference for these recordings, so stay tuned for pricing.

Can I still register for the conference?

Yes! Check out the ticket options here.

How do I add a workshops to my registration?

Purchase tickets separately here (coming soon).

 

Do I need to register for specific conference tracks or sessions?

No, you can attend any tracks or sessions you like (with the exception of the Thursday workshops that require separate registration). Please note, however, that some of the breakout rooms have limited seating and attendance will be on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive early to grab a seat.

When will the Exhibitor Hall be open?

The Exhibitor Hall hours will be posted shortly.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

By submitting the registration form, Attendees authorize the NTA to charge the appropriate fees. Registration materials will not be mailed and should be picked up on-site at the Hilton Vancouver Washington. All registration forms must be accompanied by a valid payment. All cancellation requests must be made in writing via email to events@nutritionaltherapy.com. A refund, minus a $25 processing fee, will be made for requests postmarked by February 16, 2017. Please allow 5-7 business days for refunds to be processed. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests submitted after February 16, 2017.

CEU FAQs

How many CEUs do I receive for attending the conference?

Attendees have an opportunity to earn up to 16 Continuing Education Credits by attending all three days of the conference. More are available if you attend pre- and post-conference activities, or order the conference videos (available for pre-order at the conference at a reduced rate) and submit CEU write-ups on each speaker (forms available on the NTA website).

Will I receive a printed CEU certificate?

CEU certificates will be emailed to all attendees after the conference. NTA will not be offering printed certificates this year.

Exhibitor FAQs

When is the Exhibitor Hall open?

What is the Exhibitor Cancellation Policy?

By submitting the exhibitor application, the NTA is authorized to charge the appropriate fees. All cancellations must be submitted in writing by February 9th, 2017 to be eligible for a refund of 50%. Please allow 5-7 business days for refunds to be processed. The NTA reserves the right to approve or deny any exhibitor applications. Please email mackenzie@nutritionaltherapy.com to cancel your Exhibitor space.

What are the Exhibitor Insurance Requirements?

Show Management has made extensive arrangements for security coverage during the conference, however, they are not responsible for any loss or damage to exhibitors’ equipment, displays or other materials. Therefore, exhibitors are urged to secure all risk coverage through their own insurance carrier usually by riders to existing policies and often at no extra cost. Liability insurance of no less than $1,000,000 property damage, loss or theft , personal injury, and workman’s compensation, naming Nutritional Therapy Association as additional insured, must be obtained by the exhibitor at his/her own expense. Description of Operations/Locations/Special Items: NTA 10th Annual Conference, March 2-4, 2017; Hilton Vancouver Washington; Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc. as Additional Insured.
